Most freelancers lose clients not because of their skills — but because of how they communicate.
A slow reply, a needy follow-up, or the wrong response to "can you do it cheaper?" can kill a deal that was already going your way. These scripts take the guesswork out of every stage of the conversation so you always know what to say and how to say it.
Use them as templates — adjust the name and details, keep the tone.
Option A: Direct and warm
"Hey [Name], glad this caught your attention. Happy to share more about how I'd approach this — would a quick 20-minute call work for you this week? Here's my availability: [times]"
→ Use when the client seems ready to move. Gets straight to the point without wasting their time.
Option B: Ask first, pitch second
"Hey [Name], thanks for reaching out. Before I go into detail — what does the ideal outcome look like for you on this? Want to make sure I'm thinking about it the right way."
→ Use when the job post is vague. Shows you think before you act — immediately signals you are not just another mass-applier.
Option A: Soft & curious
"Hey [Name], no pressure at all — but would a quick 10-min call help clarify things on your side?"
