These two sections are underused by most freelancers — but they directly impact how Upwork ranks your profile in search results.


1️⃣ Employment History

List your professional background here. Include all relevant roles and skip anything completely unrelated to what you offer.

Do not just write a job title and dates. Write 2–3 sentences per role that describe what you actually did — using the same keywords a client would search for.

❌ Instead of this:

"Accountant at XYZ Ltd. 2018–2024"

✅ Write this:

"Worked as an accountant at XYZ Ltd. for 6 years, responsible for monthly bookkeeping, financial reporting, accounts payable, and bank reconciliation across multiple business units."

Same role. Far more searchable — and far more convincing to a client reading your profile.
